A recommendation whenever you want one
Stop scrolling.Start watching.
The Filmatic algorithm learns your taste and gives you one movie or show worth watching, whenever you ask, on the streaming services you already own.
On a laptop? Open it in your browser.
Tired of never finding the right movie?
What we offer
One movie or show at a time, and why it suits you.
Ranked from your own preferences, not general popularity.
Only what you can watch tonight, on the services you have.
How it works
Two minutes of setup,
then it decides for you.
Set the profile once. After that a good recommendation is one tap away, at any hour, on whatever you are subscribed to.
Say where you watch.
Your services, your country. It never picks something you would have to rent, and it never asks for your streaming logins.
Rate twenty movies.
Loved, seen, or skip. Two minutes of tapping, and it never asks about a movie you have not seen.
Ask any time.
It picks one, says why, and tells you where it is streaming. Swipe left for the next. Tonight is the habit, not the limit.
Features
Some of what it does.
A few of the screens people use most. Three that decide for you, three that keep track.
Three features that decide.
Ask at any hour and one movie or show comes back, with the reason and the service it is on.

One pick, decided.
Open it and a movie or show is waiting, with why it suits you and where it is streaming. Swipe left for the next.

Only what you can watch.
Pick your services once. Nothing you would have to rent shows up again unless you ask.

Name a movie you love.
It finds the one to watch after it. Not the sequel, which is usually a flat evening.
Three that keep track.
Your taste profile, the movies and shows you meant to watch, and the evenings there are two of you.

Neither of you settles.
It reads both tastes and picks something you can both stream. No proposing, no vetoing.

A hundred worth the night.
Ranked, and yours to tick off. For when you want to browse on purpose.

Finally a list you use.
Everything you saved, sorted by what you can watch now. It flags what is about to leave.

Why trust it
Your taste,
and nothing else.
The recommendation answers to your taste profile and nothing else.
We never sell data that identifies you
Your ratings and lists are yours. Export or delete them from inside the app whenever you like, and we do not sell them or hand them to advertisers or data brokers.
Built by people who watch too many movies
We got tired of the twenty minute scroll. This is what we built for ourselves.
Availability comes from Watchmode and changes often. Poster artwork belongs to the respective rights holders.
Already use Letterboxd?
Letterboxd remembers what you watched.Filmatic decides what is next.
Different jobs. Letterboxd is a diary, and a very good one. It was never meant to tell you what to put on tonight. Use both.
Questions
The things people ask first.
Do you sell my data?
We never sell data that identifies you, and we do not hand it to advertisers or data brokers. We do build aggregated statistics and models from how people use Filmatic in general, and we own those, because once data is aggregated it cannot be traced back to any individual. Your own ratings and lists stay yours to export or delete.
Is Filmatic on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Filmatic is on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android. It also runs in any web browser at app.filmatic.io, so you can use it on a laptop without installing anything.
Do I have to wait until the evening?
No. A nightly pick is the habit most people fall into, but you can ask for a recommendation at any hour. The taste profile is the product, and it answers whenever you open the app.
What is Double Feature?
Name a movie you love and Filmatic returns the movie to watch after it, with a short note on why the two belong together. Browse the pairings by director, mood or era.
How is this different from Letterboxd?
Letterboxd is a diary and a social network, and it is very good at recording what you have already watched. Filmatic does the opposite job and works out what you watch next. Plenty of people use both.
How does Filmatic learn what I like?
Every rating updates a model of your taste held against your account. Recommendations come from that model, not from what is trending or what a streaming service wants pushed. You can reset it any time under Profile, then Your data.
Does it tell me where a movie or show is streaming?
Yes. Filmatic shows which services carry a movie or show in your country, so you go straight to it instead of checking five apps. Availability comes from Watchmode and changes often.
Do I need to connect a streaming account?
No. Filmatic never asks for your Netflix, Prime or Disney+ login and reads nothing from your streaming accounts. You tell it which services you have, and it filters picks to those.
Can I delete my account and my data?
Yes, from inside the app under Profile, then Your data, without emailing anyone. It removes your account, your ratings, your lists and your taste profile, and you can email yourself a copy first. A little survives on purpose: anonymised statistics that can no longer be linked to you, and a one-way hash of your email address so the deletion is actually honoured. The deletion page lists all of it.
